At the age of seven, I was introduced to photography by way of my aunt's all-black Polaroid 600 One Step Flash Instant Camera. My first film shots, although blurry, were of the family home and desert landscape on the Laguna Pueblo Rez (NM). Looking back on these early snapshots and others alike, shadows and black-and-white tones are concepts I continue to admire within any style of photography.

Having attended the best liberal arts and women's independent college in the Midwest fueled my ambition for multicultural awareness and writing. In graduate school, I combined these passions with a newfound interest in photography and focused primarily on oral narratives and digital media. At the end of my academic career, I had produced a series of feature articles for print, directed my first video documentary, and begun swimming in papers of applicable research.

Returning to the classroom after graduation, I taught digital photography at the University and placed a greater emphasis on Indigenous photographers and media work. As I continue to build my portfolio, I hope to inspire my community and bridge a gap between generations of visual storytellers across Indian Country.
